After more than 15 years in the restaurant business, Russell Pratt opened Runt's Bar-B-Que in 2001. Along with his family they've made Runt's a favorite location to eat in Muskogee. Everything is made from scratch from the bar-b-que sauce to the banana pudding. Give us a try and you won't be disappointed!
It started a few years ago as a small gesture of goodwill wanting to give back to those less fortunate residents of Muskogee. A free, no questions asked, meal to anyone who shows up on Thankgiving Day or delivered to shut-in residents will be provided thanks to the owners, staff and a small army of dedicated volunteers and donors who come back year after year, said Russell Pratt.
"We fed about 800 last year, and it has grown every year," said Pratt, owner of Runt's. He's not sure how many meals will be served this Thursday, but he knows the need is great in the community.
"This was a dream of my wife Kathey and mine to give back," he said. "It's just snowballed each year. We had no idea what it would turn into"
"Runt's, a popular but small joint with just 88 seats, cooks up some excellent pork spare ribs over their wood fires. "I'll put my rubs up against anyone's," Pratt says.
"There are numerous reasons to eat at Runt's BBQ in Muskogee, one of which is the hickory smoked ribs! They sell about a thousand pounds of them each week! Of course they serve up all of your favorite smoked meats, from brisket to bologna, as well as chicken! Nearly a dozen side items ranging from fries to coleslaw and baked beans can complete your meal! The Prime Rib is also a best seller. Find out why people keep coming back to this family run business again and again!"
